FAQs – Everything You Need to Know

FAQ'S

General Questions
1. What is iAlerts?
iAlerts is a community-powered alert system that sends real-time SMS and MMS notifications to subscribers when someone goes missing. Unlike traditional alert systems, iAlerts does not have strict government criteria, meaning alerts can be sent for anyone missing, as long as a police file number, photo, and description are provided.
2. How does iAlerts work?
Once a missing person’s report is verified with a police file number, iAlerts sends out an alert containing the person’s photo, last known location, and description to all subscribers. This ensures that more people are actively looking, increasing the chances of finding the missing individual.
3. How is iAlerts different from AMBER Alerts?
AMBER Alerts are only issued for abducted children who meet strict criteria. iAlerts, however, sends alerts for any missing person, regardless of age, circumstances, or location, as long as a police report has been filed. iAlerts can also be used alongside an AMBER Alert for broader awareness.
4. Is iAlerts affiliated with law enforcement?
No, iAlerts is an independent, community-driven platform. However, we require a police file number before issuing an alert to ensure authenticity and credibility.
Subscription & Costs
5. How much does iAlerts cost?
iAlerts operates on an affordable subscription model of just $0.99 per month ($11.88 per year)—less than the cost of a cup of coffee per month—to help bring missing loved ones home.
6. Why is there a subscription fee?
The small subscription fee helps us maintain and improve the platform, ensuring alerts can be sent quickly and efficiently without relying on government funding or ads. It also keeps the system free from spam or misuse while ensuring only engaged users receive alerts.
7. How do I subscribe?
You can sign up directly on our website by entering your mobile number and completing the payment process. Once subscribed, you’ll receive alerts via SMS/MMS whenever a new missing person’s case is reported.
8. Can I unsubscribe at any time?
Yes, you can opt out at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions in any alert message you receive or through your account settings.
Alerts & Reporting
9. Who can submit a missing person’s report?
Only families, legal guardians, or individuals directly involved in the case can submit a report. The report must include a police file number, a clear photo, and a physical description of the missing person.
10. How do I submit a missing person’s alert?
You can submit an alert through our website by providing the required details (police file number, photo, description) and our team will review and distribute it as quickly as possible.
11. How quickly are alerts sent out?
Once verified, alerts are dispatched immediately to all active subscribers. Our goal is to ensure missing persons’ information reaches the right people as fast as possible.
12. Who receives iAlerts notifications?
Only subscribers who have opted in to receive notifications will get alerts. This includes community members, taxi drivers, ride-share professionals, and others who want to help find missing persons.
13. Will I receive alerts for cases outside of my area?
Since iAlerts does not use geofencing, all subscribers will receive alerts. This allows information to spread quickly in case a missing person has traveled outside their original location.
14. What should I do if I see a missing person from an alert?
If you believe you have seen someone from an iAlert notification:
✅ Do not approach the person directly.
✅ Call the authorities immediately and provide them with the details from the alert.
✅ If safe, take note of the person’s location, clothing, or any other identifying details to help authorities.
Privacy & Security
15. Is my phone number kept private?
Yes. iAlerts never shares or sells subscriber information. Your phone number is used only to send alerts and will not be used for marketing or third-party communication.
16. Can I report a false alert?
If you believe an alert is inaccurate or outdated, you can contact our support team via the website to verify and correct the information.
17. Does iAlerts store personal information about missing persons?
No. iAlerts only distributes the information provided by the person submitting the report. Once a case is resolved, the alert is removed from our active listings.
